BACKGROUND

 

Avant requires a Finance Assistant to provide financial control and commercial support to operational staff.

KEY ROLES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Purchase Ledger

  • Processing and coding of supplier invoices.
  • Maintaining supplier records.
  • Processing payment runs and reconciling supplier statements.
  • Dealing with queries from suppliers
  • Working with our third-party services provider

 

Sales Ledger

  • Generating sales invoices for various branches within the company
  • Customer sales reconciliations
  • Management of credit control

 

Payroll

  • Processing payroll accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Dealing with all payroll related queries
  • Processing and managing staff expenses

 

General / Finance Duties

  • Enthusiastic about starting a career in finance and accounting.
  • Eager to learn, with a positive attitude and willingness to develop new skills.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good with numbers and enjoys solving problems.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to manage their time effectively.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Honest, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Some experience of using spreadsheets or working in an office environment.
  • An interest in business, accounting, or bookkeeping.
  • Working closely with the Line Manager and third-party services provider (if applicable) to ensure smooth operation of all finance matters.
  • Inputting accounting data into the accounting system with speed and accuracy. 
  • Assisting in the production and preparation accounts, spread sheets, reports and correspondence as required by management.
  • Providing financial support to other team members, including operations. 
  • To ensure that filling has been done via the electronic filing system
  • To manage processes/projects to improve the functions of the area that you manage 
  • To be a ‘Buddy’ to new colleagues – this will improve performance and develop teamwork in a smaller scale. You will be helping each other out for both of you to improve.
  • To continually review the processes and procedures that you follow in order that best practice is continually updated and improved 
  • To be a ‘completer / finisher’ of projects
  • To follow a process from start to finish
  • To ‘think outside the box’
  • Working with different software systems to implement invoices 
  • To take minutes at meetings and have these sent over within 24 hours after the meeting and circulate these around the organisation where applicable
  • To be responsible for keeping your own work space clean and tidy – including desk drawers etc. 
  • To follow the organisations cleaning policy 

 

You may also be required to carry out domestic, home care or additional/alternative tasks, as you may from time to time be reasonably expected to meet operational requirements and business needs.
